Microsoft Surface Tablet - Keynote speech 2012

Microsoft is betting big on the new upcoming Microsoft Tablet series called "Microsoft Surface".  Microsoft Surface is expected to run on Microsoft Windows 8 and Windows RT operating systems. It has several new innovative cool features unlike what the current market can offer.

It is still although people are skeptical about how far this product can perform in terms of acceptance and the market share it can capture. Although having said that seems Microsoft is keen putting together both the elements of entertainment as well productivity as two key aspects in this product. So that it can perform as close to as any traditional laptop, and yet at the same time it is also a tablet and so a highly mobile device.

It has these interesting innovating features and specifications such as:

  • dual wifi antenna, for faster reception of streaming traffic/videos.
  • USB3.0 port.
  • MicroHDMI port.
  • integrated touch cover keypad and type cover keypad - this attaches magnetically and comes in various choice of colours.
  • integrated kickstand - for desktop usage, and for watching videos
  • 64GB - 128GB storage options
  • 1920x1080 pixel resolution, 10.6 inch display, 16:9 aspect ratio
  • Intel Quad-Core Core i5 Ivy Bridge CPU

So it is evident that the year 2012 is an year of tablet PCs. The dormant Microsoft, which failed to make a mark in the smart-phone market with its less successful Nokia Lumina Windows phone series, is now trying to change the ball game in the future of smart-phone market with this new strategic Microsoft Surface Tablet product. As one can understand Surface is both a tablet, and highly portable laptop too. So this is the way with which Microsoft want to capture the portable device market space via the new Tablet offering and so with which they can re-enter smart-phone business once this gets successful.

Having said, unlike Apple's iTab and Android tablets, Microsoft have to prove the OS capabilities and provide a highly stable, high-performance and secure OS platform. This is where traditionally Windows OS offerings tend to fail. If issues and limitations things repeat in this Surface Tablet, then one thing is sure, users have already experienced far more comfortable tablet and smart phone choices such as products from Apple, and the various products built with Android platform.

It is also a green gadget, since it allows you to make use of those old out-dated camcorder, and other mobile device SD/microSD memory cards put in other alternative use without ever need to discard them upon after memory upgrades in those devices. How cool is that.
